Kindergarten

Welcome to Kindergarten!

Kindergarten is a time for new beginings! It is a time for growing, learning rules and routines, making new friends, and learning fun and exciting things.   This year, your child will learn about letters and sounds, how to read simple cvc and high frequency words, rhyming, nouns and verbs.  In addition, your child will learn how to recognize numbers, skip count by 5s and 10s, and solve simple addition problems. Your child will even begin to learn simple computer skills such as using a mouse and how to navigate through our schools’ computer programs.  As per the Kindergarten Initiative, starting in December, we will also be introducing your child to the First Grade Language Arts curriculum.  This will make the transition to first grade an even smoother one. As you can see, a lot of learning happens in Kindergarten. Therefore, it is EXTREMELY important that your child attends school on a regular basis. We would also appreciate your support at home.  Together, we can make your child's learning experience a positive one! We look forward to meeting and working with you!

Sincerely,

The Kindergarten Team
